Spring State Assessments

Knowing which students are ready for career, college, and life, and knowing how well our schools are preparing all students, are important parts of our state’s accountability system. State testing, which takes place in April and May in the Dieringer district, provides a key measure to help education leaders, teachers, and parents improve student learning.

This spring, students in grades 3-8 will take the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) in math and English language arts (ELA). 5th and 8th graders will also take the new Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). Teachers use these tests to measure student progress and gain valuable insight into areas where students might benefit from additional help or accelerated learning opportunities.

The results from these assessments are designed to give a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be college and career ready after high school. Score reports will be mailed to parents in September.

Each Dieringer school has a different assessment schedule. Schedules are available on the right.
