Hardware

Teacher PC's:

New PC's were purchased over the summer of 2003. They are Compaq tower PC's with Intel Processors, 40 GB Hard Drives, CD-RW Drives and 17" Monitors. These PC's are part of the 4 year PC rotation plan that rotates the computers from the computer labs and teachers. To the classroom for student use. This keeps the computer labs and teachers with the newest technology and allows for students to use computers in the classroom that are still adequate for multimedia use.

Student PC's:

It is the policy to rotate computer lab and teacher PC's to serve as student PC's in the classrooms. At some point the computers students use lose their usefulness. The district makes every effort to maintain the computers at the state minumum standard which is updated anually. When a student PC is below standard we schedule those PC's to be surplused and rotate PC's at or above the current standard into their place.

Hardware/Software Installation Policy

Because of the complex nature of a networked PC environment, software interactions, and legal issues, our policy is that users are not allowed to install software. IT staff are the only people authorized to perform software installations.
