Virus
Information
Viruses are of major concern to all users and
network administrators. These are programs that are intended to
do damage to computer software. Because of this, we have gone to
great lengths to prevent viruses from coming into the network.
E-mails are scanned as they come in to our e-mail
server to see if they contain viruses. If they do, they are contained
and deleted. We have also taken the extra precaution of blocking
certain executable file attachments. Below you can see a list of
the attachments currently being blocked. We reserve the right to
modify this list at any time.
In addition to scanning e-mail, we also have anti-virus
protection loaded on all client machines and servers. These computers
get daily virus definition updates to protect against all known
viruses.
We also ask that if students or staff are brining
files in on floppy disk or CD's that have been used in home computers
or laptops, that they first scan the media using the anti-virus
software on their computers before accessing the data.
