Emergency School Closure Information
To find information on emergency closures, click
here and either search for or click on "Dieringer"
in the Pierce County Section. This will connect you to the Public
Schools Emergency Communications System.
You may hear the following announcements:
"Schools Closed." All schools are closed for one day.
If school is closed, all meetings, field trips and after school
activities are canceled.
"Schools Open, Limited Bus Transportation." If the radio
announces "limited transportation", we will be on that
schedule all day. Your child will be dropped off where he or she
was picked up in the morning. All after school activities are canceled.
"Schools Open, One or Two Hours Late." When we run on
a one or two hour late schedule, all after school activities are
canceled for the day.
"No Out of District Special Education."
"No Kindergarten." There will be no kindergarten in the
morning or afternoon.
"No A.M. Kindergarten."
"No P.M. Kindergarten."
"No Day Care."
Safety First
The winter months bring weather conditions which delay school schedules
and sometimes cause school closures.
Emergency Plans
Each family should have a plan covering what to do when children
arrive home early due to an emergency situation. What is the best
route home, if your students cannot be delivered to the normal bus
stop? Where could they go, if they needed help? Who could care for
him or her until you arrive? Is there someone your child could call
to relieve his or her fears? Please discuss these possibilities
with your children in advance, so they will know your plans for
them.
Mornings
Listen to the radio or television between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.,
if you believe the weather may create hazardous traveling conditions.
Radio stations will be announcing schedule changes by district name
and number. Listen for Dieringer School District #343, not Sumner
District #320. Please do not call the radio stations or the Administration/Transportation
offices, which jams busy phone lines.
ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE FOR ONE DAY ONLY!!!
These stations will be broadcasting school emergency information
every 15 to 30 minutes:
