| Welcome to the home of the "Bulldogs"
an exceptional school for many reasons. At North Tapps, our students
are given the opportunity to learn and grow in a truly safe and
caring environment. Our school has a rich tradition of student success
in the classroom, on the athletic field and in academic competition.
We are also a small and intimate building where staff and students
develop close personal relationships that help to make the school
a focal point of the community.
The staff of North Tapps Middle School is actively embracing educational
excellence though the school improvement process or SIP. Comprised
of eight specific steps ranging from developing a mission statement
and analyzing test data to setting specific, measurable goals, we
understand that this is a never-ending process of continuous improvement
over time. We also know that as new students enter the school, our
goals will change based on their unique needs.
A leadership team consisting of teachers, a para educator, a community
member and a school board representative is helping to facilitate
the SIP using the academic planning days on the district calendar.
Our goal is that the school improvement process will become a stepping-stone
to continuous upgrading of North Tapps's educational programs and
services for our students and community.
Students at North Tapps are active and involved. Our 423 students
in grades six, seven and eight are exposed to a wide variety of
activities, clubs and sports. In fact, our school has the unique
distinction of having more academic clubs and activities than sports.
While the traditional sports of basketball, baseball, volleyball,
fast pitch, soccer and track are offered at NTMS, wrestling, football
and gymnastics are provided in partnership with Auburn, our neighboring
school district. Academic clubs and organizations include Destination
Imagination, Knowledge Bowl, Homework Club, Future Scientists' Club,
Math Club, Art Club, Drama Club, Red Peppers, Tech Club, Yearbook
and ASB.
Students at North Tapps Middle School perform well on measures
of academic performance and consistently act in a responsible and
respectful manner. Students are encouraged to demonstrate good conduct
and are recognized and rewarded for consistently cooperating with
staff and fellow students.
Parents play a vital role in the operation of our school. Whether
participating in the school advisory group, known as the middle
school council, volunteering in the classroom, providing parenting
classes for our community, raising funds for families in need, or
co-publishing our monthly newsletter, the middle school PTSA, with
its nearly 200 members, makes our school a better place.
As you can clearly see, North Tapps Middle School is an active
and vibrant organization committed to the education of every student.
Please feel free to let us know how we can better serve you.
Sincerely yours,
Pat Keaton
Principal
