Spring State Assessments

Knowing which students are ready for career, college, and life, and knowing how well our schools are preparing all students, are important parts of our state’s accountability system. State testing, which takes place in April, May and early June in the Dieringer district, provides a key measure to help education leaders, teachers, and parents improve student learning.

This spring, students in grades 3-8 will take the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) in math and English language arts (ELA). 5th and 8th graders will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). All SBA and WCAS assessments will be administered via computer.

The results from these assessments are designed to give a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be college and career ready after high school.  Preliminary SBA scores will be available in Family Access in June, and final SBA and WCAS score reports go home in the fall.

Assessment schedules for each school are linked on the right.  Please try to plan appointments around these days, and have your child in school, unless they are truly sick.
